What did you notice about the culture? What stood out to you most?

I noticed there is a lot of creativity in the culture because of the ofrendas and also some drawings on the walls. For example, we passed a house with art all over it - that was so cool!

What did you learn about Dia de Los Muertos?

I learned that it is a way to remember the dead and celebrate. I like that they do that because they are celebrating them and it is not so sad.

Did you enjoy your visit?

Yes, I really enjoyed the visit - it was fun to see a different culture and it was also fun to learn about something new. When we visited all of our stops, I learned something new - for example, when we went to the ofrendas I saw an ofrenda and learned a little about it.

What was your favorite stop and why?

My absolute favorite stop was the huge ofrenda that a woman made for the victims of Covid. I loved it and it showed how she cared about other people and showed a way that a lot of Mexicans can remember people.

Would you recommend others to visit Pilsen? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend others to visit b/c it was so fun to see the all the different things other cultures do - like what they eat, how they celebrate and lots more and it also teaches you different things you might not have known before.

Anything you wish we would have done while we were there?

Yes, I wish we got to to go the Mexican Art Museum. That would have been so fun if there wasn’t such a long line.

A Pilsen woman changed her garden into an Ofrenda to honor victims of COVID.
